Q: Tea tree oil inside labia ?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on November 9th, 2009
Noticed a small white bump about 1mm in diameter inside my labia and I think it's a wart. I was diagnosed with HPV 8 years ago with abnormal cells initially. These were biopsied and taken care of and I've not seen symptoms since. Now this wart. I don't want to take this to the doctor, and I've read I can use tea tree oil. Can I use this INSIDE the labia?

Hi, and thanks for your medical question on eHealth's Ask a Doctor forum.

The tea tree oil stings the vulva and labia when it comes in contact with it. Even very diluted solutions can sting for quite some time. So though it will not cause any harm, it will keep you very uncomfortable for hours.

A wart in the labia region should be left as such. It will go away with time. If at all you feel compelled to remove, it should be done by a doctor. Hope this helps. Take care!
