Q: Taking Tylenol to treat hip pain
asked by: DoctorQuestion on September 3rd, 2008
Lower right back pain right where the butt bone, I think that is what it is, it is the bone that sticks out right above the butt, and goes to the hip, and thigh. It hurts to bend down, come back up, sit a lot, stand a lot. The pain is REALLY bad. It basically hurts all the time and the only thing that takes it away is taking tylenol pm and going to sleep but that only last for so long and I wake up again. Nobody seems to know what is wrong with me and MRI shows nothing. Any ideas, anything would be appreciated.

Current medical treatment: I have had all organs such as ovories, kidneys, ect. looked at. I also have had SI (twice), facet, nerve block, and hip injections with no help. I have gone to physical therapy too and that did not help either. Still do not have a Dx and this has been going on for a 1 and a half to 2 yrs

It is really amazing how Tylenol (paracetamol - one of the weakest painkillers) can calm such a severe and long lasting hip pain like you describe. According to the negative medical test results and therapy you take (Tylenol) I doubt that your problem (hip pain) is as big as you present it.

You may want to consult an orthopedist or rheumatologist for an expert opinion.
