I'm pregnant and I plan on going on birth control after my son is born, but i was wondering when i could start taking the pill? I'm going to be breastfeeding too, so would i have to wait until i'm done breastfeeding to start taking the pill?
Also i was wondering if anyone has any experience taking the YAZ pill..and how that was for you..i was just wondering because i have HORRIBLE PMS and i heard YAZ can help with that. I've loved not having my period while i'm pregnant, but i'm dreading getting my period again because the PMS is soo bad and i heard it gets worse after having children. That's why i want to get on the pill ASAP after having my baby.

Combined birth control pills, like YAZ, that contain both estrogen and progesterone are not recommended for women who breastfeed because hormones can disturb milk secretion and decrease the milk's quality. Hormones are also secreted into the milk. Breastfeeding mothers can use mini pills. They contain only progesterone.
Cycles with ovulation usually have heavier PMS and more painful periods (dysmenorrhea). Combined pills prevent ovulation (due to estrogen) and can calm symptoms like PMS and dysmenorrhea. Mini pills don't prevent ovulation so may not help you to relief your symptoms like YAZ can do.
But anyway breastfeeding is much more important than some PMS or dysmenorrhea. When you become a mother your mother's instinct will help you to concentrate on your baby and forget all your menstruation problems.
