Hi, i have been taking the ortho tricyclen pill for a few years and i usually take it at 9pm every night. My work schedule is weird and sometimes i dont take it until 2-3 hours after my normal time. Does that decrease its effectiveness? Reason i ask is me and my boyfriend usually use condoms but we decided to try without and see what the difference was...well, we enjoyed it a little too much and then put a condom on. Because we did that for about 5-10 minutes, can i be pregnant? If someone could please answer this for me because im really scared. thanks Crying or Very sad

Taking your pill 2 or 3 hours late will NOT make a difference. Sure its preferable to take it in and around the same time but your not suddenly going to ovulate if you take it a couple of hours late. I never took my pill at the same time for 7 years and never used condoms. The idea of the pill was that so me and partner didn't have to use condoms. Used properly birth control is 99% effective. I dont think you have anything to worry about, but since pregnancy is such a concern perhaps condoms everytime might be a good idea

I don't think it's considered late until it's 6 hours or more, as long as you are using a regular pill and not a mini pill.

It only has progesterone in it. You would know if you were on it. The mini pill has no placebo week and doesn't control your period.
