Birth Control Answer A6847

Diane 35 (generic name: cyproterone/ethynil estradiol) is an oral birth control pill. It contains two hormones that prevent the ovary from releasing the egg. Additionally the cervical mucus thickens, thus decreasing the chances for the spermatozoids to reach the uterine cavity.

Diane 35 is taken for 21 consecutive days. In the next 7 days it is not taken at all. After the end of the seven days the menstrual period is expected to start. It does not matter when the bleeding would start within the 24 hours. Sometimes, the bleeding might start several days after the expected date. If that happens for two consecutive menstrual cycles, then you might want to visit your gynecologist and check for any hormonal imbalance which might have been caused by changing the birth control product from Provera to Diane 35.
