I have been taking a bath literally every night for about the past week to help with my achy muscles and to relax since i have been sick. Well the girls at my work said if you take too many baths it could cause you to have a misscarriage! I have never heard of that!!!! Before that i would take one every once in a while, but like i said...i havent been feeling well and my body's changing and its just helpfull. I never stay in more than about 15 min. Sorry! I know some people are going to read this and laugh and think its the dumbest Q ever but the girls i work with really scared me! Thanks for any advice, you girls are always so helpful!!!
As long as the bath is not too hot then you should be fine. Baths are perfectly fine while pregnant and I took them all the time-even when I was dilated about 4 cm. The main concern is that you have the water a comfortably warm temperature so as not to overheat the baby.
bubbles and soaps should be ok. You might want to stay out of a bath full of fragrances and such while IN LABOR. But other than that relax and enjoy yourself.
As long as the water isnt hot enought to change your body temperature, like a jaguzzi, then you and the baby is fine.
Baths and water are very beneficial to you and your baby. It helps relax and releives pressure off your bones and joints. Try swimming when your feeling bad.
Whenever I have back pain or hip pain I just hope in the pool and swim around a bit. Its good excersise and helps releive the aches and pains. And its summer time soon !!!
Rosie I love the chiro too! They say it can make your labor less painfull. Dh's sister has 5 kids and went with all of them and she swears by it! Mine that i go to said that when im in labor at the hospital she would come and do pressure point that it makes your labor progress if your going slow and also that it makes it feel less painfull. You should def go to one!!!! I can already feel a diff. and sleep better at night and today was my 2nd visit.
Chrissy That makes me feel a lot better! I wonder why he doesnt like the bath yet?hmmm lol
well, he's getting to like it more now that we showed him he can put his arms down in and splash around. we sound like idiots, but we also make "oooooh and ahhhh" noises to show him it's fun. seems to be working.
There was an old myth that taking baths caused bactirial infections. It's not true. Only avoid HOT baths. In my first trimester I took two baths a day. It's a major stress reliever and really helped with the achy mussles.
oh yea!!! Thats why i have been taking them sooo much. It really helps to calm down and yes, it helps a lot with the mussles!!! I was just concerned b/c someone at work said i could misscarry and b/c of bact. infec. Im not worried now though...i also talked to my dr. about it at my appt a couple weeks ago and she advised me that there was nothing wrong with it just not to cook my little bean.
