Well, I have panic attacks alot and every night while almost asleep I sit up real fast freaked out because I feel short of breath and numb all over as my heart is pounding (pretty much like Im starting to have a panic attack). I sometimes even choke while trying to breathe. When I finally do get to sleep, I will wake up feeling the same way and when I look around, everything looks like a strobe light is on. It lasts for a about 5 seconds. At the same time I also feel like Im out of my body. Like Im not real or something. Its so weird and Im wondering what it could be. The main thing that freaks me out is the strobe light effect and the out of body feeling. Is it just stress that is causing all of this or do I have a serious problem? Confused scared

Do you get panic attacks only before falling asleep or during the day, too?
Are you fully conscious, but unable to move when you get the strobe light effect?
Do you get the feeling that someone is standing beside you?
