The symptoms you reported (kidney pain, blood and proteins in urine, pain radiating in the groin area) are just what are expected when kidney stones are present. The kidney stones are known to damage the wall of the ureters when they pass. The damaged wall is more susceptible to infection, which often accompanies kidney stones.
The pain is one of the strongest pains that a person can experience. The only way to get rid of the pain for good is to expel the kidney stones. This is a painful process that might be repeated many times, depending on the number of kidney stones. The number of kidney pain attacks might be even bigger if the stones start expelling, but then return back to the kidneys.
You might want to have an additional ultrasound examination of the kidneys and the bladder to be sure that there is no other more serious condition.
Urinalysis would also be preformed. Since there are several types of kidney stones based on the substance they contain most, it might be a good idea to examine the stones once they are expelled to try to find out what are they made of in order to decrease the intake of that particular substance.
