Q: Symptoms of herpes

Around two weeks ago, I had vaginal sex with a stranger, first stupid mistake. Most girls my age don't worry about STDs, only pregnancy, so because I was on birth control, I didn't bother with a condom, second stupid mistake.

About 2 days after this occured, a small unnoticable cold sore popped up on my mouth, because we didn't engage in oral sex, I didn't think much of it. The past week, I've had a sore throat that won't seem to go away. Yesterday, I started itching in one spot above my genital area and today I noticed a small red bump there.

I read that herpes can be painful, and I haven't experienced any pain or painful urination or anything like that, so then I thought it might be syphilis. It's also only one bump, which is common in syphilis.

I know I should just go get tested, but does this sound like an STD or just a coincidence?

It doesn't sound like syphilis because in syphilis there should be an ulcer not a bump.
It also doesn't sound like herpes because herpes lesion is painful, itching and changes its appearance (starts like a red bump; then vesicle forms in it; then vesicle pops and ulcer forms; ulcer gets covered with crust and finally it heals without scar).
That red bump above the genital are could be a simple hair follicle infection which is not considered as a STD.
You can consult your primary health provider (and dermatologist if necessary) for precise diagnosis and proper treatment.
