Chest pains not related to heart attacks
The general rule of thumb, when dealing with chest pains, is to have it checked out by a doctor as soon as possible. There is however several conditions, that can mimmick a heart attack by vertue of chest pains:

- Anxiety attacks:

Anxiety attacks can closely mimmick heart-attacks, displaying almost all symptoms of a classic heart-attack. For the most part, people suffering from an anxiety disorder, know how it feels and would be able to realise the difference between an anxiety attack and a heart-attack. A person that experiences an anxiety attack for the first time however, might not be as familiar and should not be ashamed of seeking immediate medical help even if they suspect it being an anxiety attack rather than heart-attack.

- Costochondritus:

A benign, yet painfull inflamation of the costal cartelidge (The midpoint of the chest where the ribs come together and are affixed). This can be distinguished from a heart attack by virtue of the fact that the pain is usually more generalised and spread out, as well as it being shallower. The other indicator being that the pain is increased when inhaling.

In general, heart problems is too serious to wait untill it is determined that it is nothing more than indigestion and therefor you will find that a lot of patients gets admitted to a cardiac-ward even if they have a very healthy heart.

So if you ever go to an emergency room and they decide to admit you to a cardiac-ward...don't stress thinking that you were actually having heart-attack or heart problems, as it is most likely just precautionary. In fact, severe pain can cause the body to react in a way that might make it appear as if though you have a heart related illness.
