I have an 8 month old boy, who developed a cold in early March, and since then has had a cough. We started Flovent and Salbutamol 2 puffs each 2 times a day about 2 weeks ago, there has been a slight improvement. He is not coughing as much, but when he does he always finishes the cough with this kind of gasping sound, I find it hard to explain. Of course when I go to the doctor he will not perform the cough for them, so therefore hard for them to hear what I am trying to explain. Is this a sign of asthma? There is a family history of asthma. My father, and my husband both have asthma. My husband had asthma as a child but grew out of it. Two of my nieces on my husband are very prone to bronchitis and pneumonia. Any input would be great. Thanks.

That's a symptom that my parents say I had when I was a baby, too, although I wasn't diagnosed with asthma until I was 2 years old. Make sure that your pediatrician listens to you and truly understands what is going on, I had pneumonia for quite some time and wasn't being treated correctly because my doctor refused to believe I had asthma. I sure hope your little guy doesn't have asthma, but if he does just know that it's a very manageable condition and I've been able to live with it for 19 years. ^_^
