Q: Symptoms indicative of brain hemorrhages , tumors , and epilepsy
asked by: DoctorQuestion on January 21st, 2009
Even though I haven't felt too stressed I am wondering if my condition is related to stress. The problem is that these pains stress me out and if stress is the cause it is vicious circle. Other than stress what else could be causing these pains? Also what medications would you reccomend for me in order to keep the pains away. This is driving me completely crazy so any advice and help is apprciated. Thanks.

Headache and Migraines Answer A5463

Current medical status: About a week ago I started to develop nausea and was unable to eat as much as I normally do. 4 days ago I started vomiting and continually did so for roughly 24 hours. I was still nauseaus but had now developed a sharp pain at the top of my head on the right side. This feels similar to how I'd imagine a knife would feel. When the pain comes I involunarily twitch on my right side. Always my face will twitch but sometimes my whole right side will as well. 2 days ago I went to a medical center where I explained my symptoms and was given a CAT scan and a spinal tap. Neither test showed any clues to what is causing my condition. The pains come randomly, sometimes I will go a few hours without them and sometimes I will be getting a pain every few seconds. The pains also wake me up at night. Prior to this I was having trouble sleeping as well. In the past week I have lost 10 pounds because the nausea and the pains keep my appetite at bay. The medical center referred me to a doctor of internal medicine but I am not sure what he will be able to tell me.

The symptoms you reported might originate from an abnormal charge release from the brain cells. This abnormal charge release can be due to a brain tumor, hemorrhage (bleeding) in the head, or epilepsy. The CAT scan should have revealed the tumor if any existed. If a hemorrhage in the head had occurred, the symptoms would be stronger in a matter of days and maybe even hours.

You might want to visit a neurologist for a possible epilepsy test.
