Q: Symptoms due to pregnancy ?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on February 25th, 2009
I had unprotected sex twice on 02/14/09 and he did not pull out the 2nd time. My cycles are usually 26 days. I have been experiencing abdominal pains, gas, discharge (odorless), lower back pain, and nausea when I wake up for the past few days. I wanted to know if these symptoms are most likely because of ovulation or pregnancy. Wouldn't it be too soon to experience symptoms due to pregnancy? Also, I'm currently in school for ultrasound and I was scanned yesterday and there was a small amount of fluid in my cul-de-sac. Could this possibly be the reason I am experiencing these symptoms?

The symptoms you reported are not specific enough for definitive diagnose to be given. The symptoms might be related to pregnancy, but most of them might be related to inflammatory pelvic disease, too. The last would explain the fluid in the cul-de-sac, but not the morning nausea.
According to the data about your period and if it did not change this time, you probably ovulated on the day you had intercourse. So, pregnancy is very likely. You might want to use home pregnancy urine test or visit your gynecologist for definitive diagnose between pregnancy and pelvic inflammatory disease.
