Q: Symptoms and treatment of urinary tract infections
asked by: DoctorQuestion on February 19th, 2009
For the past 36 hours I have had severe pain whilst I am urinating. (It's generally at the end and is a stabbing type pain). Also for the past 24 hours I have been having blood in my urine and urinating frequently. I also have a temp of 39.4.
I would imagine this is some kind of uti but was wondering what you think and how soon I would (if needed) need to seek medical treatment?
Can this be cured without seeking treatment?

Kind regards

Anna

Urinary and Bladder Disorders Answer A5873
Painful urination (disuria), frequent urination, and blood in the urine (hematouria) could indicate a urinary tract infection, kidney stone, or both. A UTI requires urine laboratory analyses and antibiotic treatment. Left untreated or improperly treated, a UTI could lead to a chronic UTI.
