The symptoms you reported (fishy smell and white discharge from vagina) might be associated with bacterial vaginosis. Bacterial vaginosis is a vaginal inflammation caused by certain bacteria. The white discharge is due to increased production of mucus or the presence of pus.
The fishy smell is caused by the metabolic process of the bacteria and the affected tissue. Itching, a burning sensation, or even pain are of the symptoms that can be experienced, too. If the infection spreads to the urinary tract, then frequent urination, painful urination, and a burning sensation might be present, too.
You might want to visit a gynecologist for a vaginal swab and/or smear that would help to identify the bacteria that caused the condition and the most effective antibiotic against it. The swab would also differentiate if the symptoms are caused by a fungal infection, which is also possible and should be treated with antifungal medications.
