sometimes but im thinking that this is an allergic reaction to something---either that or you have develooped geographical tongue---how long and how oftgen do you get this sensation. is there anything else that accompanies it?

I get it a few times a month.. normally around bed time.... My doc said that I grind my teeth a lot in my sleep I wondered if maybe this could cause it.. I see a specialist on the 12th and am not sure what to expect. Normally it goes along with the sensation of tired tight muscles in my face and neck area.

Have you seen a chiropraxtor? i also think you should get into a neuromuscular dentist.---gargle with salt water and see if that helps your tongue any

I get this sometimes after I eat and I have TMJ. I am not sure if it is definetely a common symptom of TMJ and I know that Dyan knows a great deal more than I do. I don't know TMJ may present itself differently in different people but I would take her advice and go see a neuromuscular dentist just in case.

My fiance suddenly got a swollen tongue last night and we have no idea what it could be? any ideas on what the cause might be. He takes a-zinc vitamines every morning and isn't on any medication.
