I have had a recurrence of a swollen throat many times this year. This past month it has been getting worse. I was seen in the emergency room Monday the 23rd. They tested me for strep and it was negative. They gave me Acetaminophen with Codeine for the pain and so I would be able to swallow but said It was probably viral and I should get better soon. The sudden chills and hot flashes have gone away but the swollen throat continues and makes it very hard to swallow and breath. I do not have a temp. I need to know if this is something I should have looked at or if I should just wait it out. It is becoming very painful however. Hopefully someone knows what it is as well.
