Hi, I am a 37 year old female. Found swollen lymph node in neck ( Left Supraclavicular)about 7 months ago. It did not go away. Then found one in left groin area (inguinal). Have had fever that comes and goes but is generally now going between 99.1 and 100.2. Was on round of anitibiotics due to getting bronchitis, while on antibitotic spiked fever of 102.

I have fatigue. Skin itches somewhat on legs and chest. When I sleep at night (and doesn't always happen, only sometimes), hair gets completely soaked under back of hair. (Room temp is 74 to 75 degrees).
I also started to get frequent infrections (bronchitis, and sinus). Also have small cough all the time.

Had bloodwork done and WBC was 4.2. And eosinophils were 666. Just had more bloodwork done and WBC went up (good??) and eosinophils went up to 936.

Had 4 CT scans with and without contrast. Findings = CT of Neck = "low attenuation subcentimeter level V lymph node" Chest CT = "small bilateral axillary nodes that measure up to 1 cm" Abdominal and Pelvic CTs = "left external iliac node measuring 2.4 x 1.2 cm(with radiologist comment "recommends PET scan for further evaluation") also bilateral inguinal nodes each 1cm.

I have now been referred to a general surgeon for biopsy.

Two questions please.....

What does "low attenuation" mean?

Is this looking like I have lymphoma of some kind?

Thank you for your help in advance.

Cheryl

1. You should consult some radiologist about the first question.
2. Your symptoms could indicate presence of lymphoma but other disorders like some infections (mono for example), immune disorders etc. can also have some similar symptoms. Biopsy of some swollen lymph node is absolutely necessary to confirm or exclude this diagnosis - lymphoma.
