A month ago I started to get a headache, but not a normal headache, a brtally painful headache. And nothing stopped it, or helped it any. a couple of days later I got a lump at the base of my neck, on the back, which i didnt pay much attention to, I thought it was a cyst. However the next day (headache persisting) I noticed it had grown and also changed shape. so i booked a doctors appt, for a week later. my headaches started slowing down, and happened randomly. But then I grew another lump, about 2inches away and the headaches came back. All the while lump #1 had been growing to the size of a cherry. So i went to the doctor, he said it was cat scratch fever, and gave me some antibiotics. the day i started the antibiotics, my lumps started growing, and getting really painful. I also got two more lumps, smaller, but also painful.headaches became worse. went back, and he said if the antibiotics didnt help it wasnt cat scratch fever. did another blood test (this was 2 weeks after the first blood test when i went in the first time) for mono. but mono didnt show up and he said if it didnt show up the first time or the second time it couldnt be mono. so i have to do a biopsy in the newyear, but im getting worried, and my doctor wont really tell me anything. Has something like this happened anyone? what could i have??

Have you had a re-evaluation regarding the lymph node enlargement since your treatment with the course of antibiotics was completed? Stony-hard nodes are typically a sign of cancer, usually metastatic. Very firm, rubbery nodes suggest lymphoma. Softer nodes are the result of infections or inflammatory conditions. Nodes that are matted can be either benign or malignant. The presence of fever is commonly associated with infections. However, constitutional symptoms such as fever, weight loss, fatigue or night sweats could also suggest disorders such as tuberculosis, lymphoma, collagen vascular diseases, unrecognized infection or malignancy.
