I have a swollen lypmh node under my jaw on my neck (right side only), I have an earache almost like an ear infection pain, and I have throat pain but only on the right side and it's more like a burning type of pain/feeling that comes and goes. It al started a couple months ago while I was still smoking and the only time I would feel it is when I was smoking. I since stopped smoking and have been to 3 different doctors (INternal Medicine and Family Practice) and no one can tell me what is wrong with me. My neck also feels stiff at times (only on the right) and I get headaches only on the right side.

What can it be? I am really worried.

Soreness on right side
I can suggest two possibilities. I am no doctor, so this is not a diagnosis, just stuff to check into. I have similar problems and have found two possibilities. One is a cracked tooth on the sore side. Have you ever had any truma to that side that may have cracked a tooth? Any root canals done on that side? Have your dentist check for a cracked tooth or endodontist for radiolucencies by the roots. The other possibility is something with the tonsil. I get tonsil cheese on the side with the soreness (discomfort in cheek, earache, discomfort around teeth) and stiff neck on the other side. Check with a flashlight to see if you have it on the side with the soreness. Have your doctor check for tonsillitis or strep throat if that side is red. These are only possibilities. It could be something else. A less likely cause (because of the swollen lymph node) is bruxism or clenching your teeth which can cause a stiff neck but I don't know if that could cause an earache either. In my case, I know I have a cracked tooth root, but my dentist thinks I have clenching of the teeth. I wonder if it's related to the tonsil cheese and I'm still don't know what it is. I actually have two cracked teeth on the side with my problems.

Swollen lymph node and ear ache
Janice 23 did you ever get diagnosed with anything? Your symptoms are exactly like mine. Everything is on the right, sore ear, sore swollen lymph node, my neck muscles feel strained and sore and I also periodically have some discomfort in my jaw/cheek (mostly in the mornings) Any info. would be greatly appreciated. My ent says if it doesn't clear up in a month then he wants to do a biopsy on the node, just the word "biopsy" scares the crap out of me.

UGH! Me too!!!
I am having the same symptoms! Driving me crazy. I went to the dr last week who said I was probably getting sick. Never got sick but feel everything you are feeling, all on left side. Wish I knew what it was Sad It is freaking me out....
Started as left shoulder/neck pain... enlarged lymph node above collar bone on left side, now glands swollen on left side of neck, left ear pain, throat feels swollen but not sore and I am very, very tired. ugh.
I have never smoked, my blood pressure is on the low side and all blood work taken at my physical less than 4 months ago was completely normal.

Same symptoms
I have the same symptoms, along with blisters around my lips (only on the right side), the MD told me I have shingles in my mouth which follows the path of the nerves, which explains why it's only on the right side. I originally thought I had cracked tooth syndrome but my dentist told me to go see a MD right away because I might have shingles in my mouth, and sure enough she was right. I'm on antivirals and taking vicodin at night (for some reason the pain is way worse at night) and it is slowly getting better... It's only been 5 days for me since the pain started, and 2 days since I've been on antivirals.

Ear, throat, lymph node/ salivary gland
I have similar symptoms bit on the left side. I smoke every once in a while bit I can't tell a difference in pain when I smoke and I don't. I have swollen salivary gland or lymph node under my jaw, pain in my ear like I'm starting to get an ear infection, and horrible pain in my throat when I swallow. I'm beginning to get scared about what it could be. My parents say it's just a cold bit I don't feel sick other than a smokers cough.

swollen left gland,earache
I also have the left side problems with the ear and the gland. Also noticed when i breath air in left nostril it feels very dry on the left side with minor numbing of toungue.Went to the ent and he looked down there with a scope and ensured me it wasnt throat cancer.I thought it can be reflux coming up into the esophugas but he said that looked ok.Starting to suspect TMJ,have had bouts of it before but I have also smoked for the last 2 years and im wondering if that is the cause.

Aloha! no ones ever posted an outcome to this. I have the SAME thing, swollen glands and hard nodule by my hyoid bone in throat, ear aches and head aches. I went to ENT as well, he said everything looks good. Blood tests showed low Red Blood Cell count but nothing to worry about recheck in a few months. The uncomfortableness and pain is driving me crazy. Used to be worse at night but now starting to happen in daytime too. I'm really getting worried and having seriously bad panic attacks and anxiety over it. Has anyone found answers?

Head Ear and Neck pain
I have similar symptoms - but on both sides of my head and neck, temples, all around my ears (like earache) with some swelling on boths sides of my neck and in the back of my head in 2 large spots at the base of my skull, along with a sinus type of pressure behind my eyes and sort of like a band around my whole head... it's been weeks and seems to be getting worse, afternoons and evenings seems like there is more pain and pressure. Went to Dr yesterday and he prescribed Sudaphed. He did blood work for thyroid, and said my blood pressure was up (tho it's always been very low) I'm concerned and OTC pain releivers, 800 Motrins, and Vicadin only dull the symptoms... What's up with that?

Hi, I had the same exact symptoms but I'm not a regular smoker. it would only hurt after eating and swallowing anything put me in excrutiation pain. I saw a doctor just a few days ago and while looking at my throat he said he saw an ulceration near my right tonsil, which is where all the pain was coming from, I had an awful earache in my right ear and my right lymph node was swollen pretty badly. He prescribed me "magic mouthwash" which is supposed to help. You gargle a teaspon of this pink pasty liquid, which doesn't taste horrible but it isn't pleasant, and then spit. It's hard not to spit all of it out in order to keep some in the back of your throat, as gross as this sounds. So far I still have a swollen right lymph node, earache, and extreme pain but only during and after swallowing anything. The doctor said that usually it's hard to actually find ulcerations like this because they're usually somewhere behind your tonsils so it's hard to diagnose. I hope this helps!

swollen lymphnodes (glands)
In the healthcare industry and I have same symptoms as most, left side was worse than right but now right side is taking charge of pain... it deff hurts when i drink or eat anything I had tonsils taken out soooo not the cause, and lymphnodes are swollen, neck hurts so much as if my head weighed a ton and ears are sensitive as if i were getting an ear infection. Amoxicillin did not help took it for 3/4 days twice a day and then stopped thought i was feeling better but im back to worse. NOW I am on clindamycin. It is taken for bacterial infections. And yes everyone you can have a bacterial infection on your gland/lymph nodes through anything shared from one mouth to another (saliva....etc.) also germs, germs, germs... I hope this helps all...

I so wish everyone would post their outcome! I have same exact symptoms. Ear pains as if it would be the start of an ear infection, I wouldn't consider it a sore throat but maybe pressure? Swollen glands, they almost feel like they burn neck feels stiff and headache. It's weird though it's not all the time it comes and goes through out the day. I went on a 10 day dose of augmentin (sp?). Thought I felt better so I stopped symptoms came back less than a week later so I finished up the prescription, a few weeks went by and another prescription of penicillin and no change! Ugh I'm freaking out so scared. I look on Internet and all I see is throat cancer. Help!!!!!

Swelling under jaw and burning in mouth with earache
I too have the same symptoms, burning on tongue and throat, swelling under jaw, and pain in the ear.happens mainly on the right side, but sometime also on left side. Its been going on for 9 months. Toughest at night time. days go by okay. Severity increases and decreases. Have stopped alcohol completely. Been on augmentin for 18 days now. 50% better. Had done it once before too in Aug 2011, with prednisone. Okay for a few weeks and back on again.
I have no tonsils, no cancer per doctor. Just bothers the heck out of me. specially the nights. Tested for autoimmune disorders(sjogrens syndrome). Any ideas. What did you finally do

Ear Pain caused by smoking
I have had the problem for about a month. Always when smoking it became worse. I have quite smoking for 2 days now and I have no pain in the ear. If you smoke, why waste your time and money. That is the main problem. I also have a cracked tooth on my right side but I have noticed that smoking will cause ear pains big time.

Hi~ last month i had, for the first time a severe case of TMJ, but it was where my jaw seemed dislocated and i cound not bite down my right back teeth together. It was not alighned properly. Not sure how it started but i think it was due to a dentist visit a few days before and having to keep my mouth wide open for sometime. My dentist seems to thing i clunh my jaw at nite, i don't think this is the case but can't be sure. At the time of the flare up my dentist recommended i take 4 ibuprofins every 5 hours for 1 week. This did help the infammation and therefore my jaw slowly seemed to be aligning itself again. But, since this tmj flare up my jaw has not fully healed and causes discomfort for me almost always. Two weeks ago, i had a fludid type feeling in my ear on the same side the tmj had occoured (only right side). This lasted about 1 week and was totally annoying, i constantly had popping and crackly noises in my ear and hearing in that ear was muted like underwater. At the time was not certain that this was connected to the tmj. Then only on the right side, I also started to feel that my throat was slightly irritated. All on the right side. The fluid in the ear feeling has now dissapated, but my jaw is still sore and i get headaches (mostly on right side, altough not only), i gam sore on my right side, my neck and shoulder areas. Just two days ago after rubbing areas which i thought may relieve some pressure around my neck and shoulders...i stumbled upon a lymph node beehind my right ear near the rear of my jaw. When i apply pressure to it, all the pain and discomfort that i feelin my jaw seems to disapate. It also, relieves pressure i feel in my head causing dull irratating headaches. I now know that all of these symtoms are somehow related. A friend mentioned to me to check out "oil pulling", it really helped her with a sever infection she had in a tooth/gum. Her dentist wanted to pull the tooth and she researched an alternative and found a cure in the "oil pulling" method. For those interested you can google it and read up. I'm doing the same. I will give it a try...keep you posted.
