Q: Swollen lymph node and earache

I have a swollen lypmh node under my jaw on my neck (right side only), I have an earache almost like an ear infection pain, and I have throat pain but only on the right side and it's more like a burning type of pain/feeling that comes and goes. It al started a couple months ago while I was still smoking and the only time I would feel it is when I was smoking. I since stopped smoking and have been to 3 different doctors (INternal Medicine and Family Practice) and no one can tell me what is wrong with me. My neck also feels stiff at times (only on the right) and I get headaches only on the right side.

What can it be? I am really worried.

Soreness on right side
I can suggest two possibilities. I am no doctor, so this is not a diagnosis, just stuff to check into. I have similar problems and have found two possibilities. One is a cracked tooth on the sore side. Have you ever had any truma to that side that may have cracked a tooth? Any root canals done on that side? Have your dentist check for a cracked tooth or endodontist for radiolucencies by the roots. The other possibility is something with the tonsil. I get tonsil cheese on the side with the soreness (discomfort in cheek, earache, discomfort around teeth) and stiff neck on the other side. Check with a flashlight to see if you have it on the side with the soreness. Have your doctor check for tonsillitis or strep throat if that side is red. These are only possibilities. It could be something else. A less likely cause (because of the swollen lymph node) is bruxism or clenching your teeth which can cause a stiff neck but I don't know if that could cause an earache either. In my case, I know I have a cracked tooth root, but my dentist thinks I have clenching of the teeth. I wonder if it's related to the tonsil cheese and I'm still don't know what it is. I actually have two cracked teeth on the side with my problems.

Swollen lymph node and ear ache
Janice 23 did you ever get diagnosed with anything? Your symptoms are exactly like mine. Everything is on the right, sore ear, sore swollen lymph node, my neck muscles feel strained and sore and I also periodically have some discomfort in my jaw/cheek (mostly in the mornings) Any info. would be greatly appreciated. My ent says if it doesn't clear up in a month then he wants to do a biopsy on the node, just the word "biopsy" scares the crap out of me.

I am having the same symptoms. I am a smoker and notice that it is wore when I have one. This has been going on for some time now, anytime i have a cold the discomfort goes through the roof. Finally now have a referral to an ENT after a year or so of going to my family MD. If anyone finds any info or gets dagnossed plz post, as will I.
