Q: Switching from Yaz to Loestrin

I'm 18 years old and have been taking Yaz regularly since last November. I have noticed I have been extremely moody, anxious, and suffer from severe anxiety attacks (my PMS was never this bad). I also developed a breast lump that turned out to be non-cancerous due to the change of hormones in my body. All this combined with the fact that my insurance doesn't cover it caused me to contact my gyno. She switched my prescription to loestrin 1/20 and I'm suppose to start it next month. Not knowing anything about it I researched it and found terrible reviews, as well as it causing acne (I was prescribed Yaz because I had acne and it actually helped). Anyways I was just wondering if anyone is taking or has taken loestrin 1/20 and what their experience was with it. I also would like to know some alternative birth control pills such as Kariva and your experiences with them.

Loestrin
I have been taking Loestrin 24 for about a year now. I dont know how different it is from Loestrin 1/20, but I like it. Although my bf says it makes me a little more emotional around my period than I had been before. But I dont see the difference. I used to have an acne problem, but it has cleared up since i started taking the pill. (of course i may get one or two blemishes around my period) It also has helped w my cramping. I used to have severe cramps & a VERY heavy flow that lasted for up to 2 wks. Now I have my period for 2-3 days. And an added bonus... my boobs grew a full cup size! Smile So maybe you should ask your doctor about Loestrin 24.

The gyno. prescribed me loestrin in Jan. I don't take it...I just wanted the RX for in case I wanted to take it for sexual reasons. I heard Yaz clears up acne better though. I want a pill that won't cause weight gain..and that will clear up acne. Is loestrin good for both of those.
