i had an ear infection in January that took a long time to get diagnosed. I was complaining of ear pain for three weeks before the doctor saw the infection in the right ear. He put on biaxin xl 500mg three days on that drug I started have numbing tingling an cold hands and right foot . The Pharamacust said to stop it. 2 weeks later the doctor gave me doxicycline for 10 days now he said I had an ear infection with something black behind my ear also some swelling of lymp nodes ... Saw an ent , he told me everythinG is good come back if I have any problems .... Now today my right ear has a dull ache and it hurts behind my ear down my neck when I turn my neck it is is swollen or twice the size of the left and hurts . That whole side of my head. Just did a brain ct that was normal . Awaiting the results of mri of brain and spinal cord. I really need to know what to do next!! I have three little kids that I want to watch grow up!!!!!
I have the same thing! Undiagnosed right now. Saw and Endo and he is running some tests but when I mentioned that to him he was caught off gaurd and mentioned a Rheumatologist. Im treating a double ear infection now and sinus infection. Cold right hand and right foot as well.
i couldnt believe i found this. my scm muscle (the entire muscle from top to bottom) has been "swollen" or larger on only my left side for 11 months now. mine started right after i got over a ear inferction and nasty sinus infection. mine started with pain in my neck, ear and down into the left arm as well. i've been in my general dr several times, ent several times and still have no answers. ive had a scope down my throat because i have a weird sensation of something in my throat as well and that came back normal. i also had an ultrasound on my neck to check my thyroid and that was normal as well. all in all i started going to a massage therapist and she said all my muscles in that area were very tight kept going to her and it would temporarily help. then went to chiro and still am because finally the pain in my neck isnt as bad and it help the pain in my ear (i think theyre connected). the chiro said i had 3 vertabraes out of alignment and they could be causing muscles to tighten so idk. do yall have a weird feeling when you swallow? and is it your entire scm? like when i look straight ahead you can see my entire scm muscle on the left side and can't see it on the right.....i have also started having problems with my jaw on that side being tight and making noises when i open and close so a few drs have thrown around TMJ.
I have been dealing with the same issues that you guys have mentioned! My pain starts at the swollen scm muscle on the right side of my neck and includes my right shoulder area, both in the front and back. Sometimes the pain in my arm and neck gets so bad that I almost have to leave work. These plus other symptoms I have been dealing with since December and have had every medical test/blood work/specialist evaluate me and they can never find anything. Right now I am getting a massage done once a week to try and help loosen up my muscles in my neck, shoulder, and jaw, as well as 2-4 Chiropractic appointments. These things only bring slight temporary relief until I start to do any activity. I am on some prescription medications that I spent a significant time researching this past weekend and found out that thousands of other people who were on these same medications were having the exact same symptoms as I was experiencing. Are you 3 prescribed any medications that you take daily?
I have a similar issue going on. I woke up one morning with horrific pain in the left side of my neck, which was accompanied by pain in front of and behind my ear. I went to my pcp, all was well in the ears and nose department. He adjusted me and off I went. Next day, same pain, went to a massage therapist, had her massage the area. Her notation was that my neck was very tight and very strained. A week later, symptoms still present, this time with a "globus" feeling in and the out side of my throat. Off to the ENT I went, all clear. Next stop, physical therapist, as prescribed by my dentist. Two weeks before the pain in neck started, I had a wisdom tooth pulled on the same side. I have been going to this therapist for about three weeks now. Sensation of globus feeling is still there, however not as intense. Side of my neck starts to get really sore if I touch it. I am to the point where I think I should get my thyroid checked/blood tested, etc, because these sensations are driving me nuts. When I first wake in the morning, I do not have this problem, but as the day progresses the symptoms show up. Sometimes I feel like I cannot speak or I have like an elephant sitting on my chest!
