Several weeks ago I began having symptoms of sensing a very sweet odor that no one around me can sense.I have never smelled the odor before, and while it is not unpleasant, it is annoying. I can smell it at different locations and it does not matter what clothing I am wearing or what deodorant I have used. The only medication I have been taking is doxycycline for prophylaxis of malaria( post exposure).I started taking the doxycycline 3 weeks ago after a trip to the Amazon. I take no other medication and have no other medical conditions. I am 54, male, and consider myself to be in good health otherwise except for high cholesterol. Could this be caused by the medication or should I have an exam by a physician?I am a dentist by profession but have not been exposed to any unusual chemicals the past month that could have caused this .
