Sweaty and shaky after eating sugar

I am a healthy 46 yr old male, my dad was diabetic and that has me a bit concerned as of late because I am having an issue. It seems that I can eat a little piece of candy...say like today...a little Certs mint and I get shaky hands, get a sweaty forehead and a slight headache in the temples. Is this a sign of a sugar issue or something? What do I need to do?
Thank you

hiya,
yes it does sound like an early symptom of hypoglycemia to me. get a glucose monitor and check your levels at home before and after eating,as well as 2 hours after eating.also check your fasting level. you will know from these whether it is glucose related.in the meantime i wouldnt eat any sugar if it makes you uncomfortable.Ive had severe reactive hypo for 10 years and when it first started developing i would get extreme hot flushes and sweating after eating sugars and then suddnely turn blueish and become unconscious(unable to be woken for 3 hours) not good with a toddler in the house!
i follow a strict Paleo diet to control it.
