Current medical status: I've done a search regarding the subject and found a couple of responses, however none of which really pertain to my personal situation. I awoke yesterday morning to find a small lump, about the size of a pea under the skin of my left butt cheek, near the area that connects with my thigh, however NOT on my gluteal cleft. It is hard to the touch and rather painful, considering pressure is placed upon it anytime I sit down, there's some darkish red discoloration on the skin. I don't believe it to be a cyst as I've tried squeezing it, and nothing comes out, it just hurts. As well, I don't think it's a Lipoma, which from what I understand is soft to the touch. It's starting to become disruptive while sitting down or driving. I spend a lot of time sitting down, and don't have much of a butt, so a lot of pressure is placed upon that area by my seat bones.
It is hard to answer without seeing the lump. There are several possibilities beside the ones you already mentioned. The lump might be a fibroma (connective tissue benign tumor) in which case it should be removed by a surgeon. It can also be an inflammation of certain of the skin components. The inflammation would be best treated with anti-inflammatory corticosteroid cream. You might want to visit a dermatologist to determine the exact cause.
