I have had this medical mesh used on my chest where my ribs would pop up and down. I think it was caused from having pectus excavatum surgery when I was about 5 yrs old. I was the first person in Northeast Florida to have the surgery done back in 1978. I am now a 38 yr old female. The mesh has been used to keep my ribs or cartalidge from moving. I had that procedure done about 2005. Recently i have been having alot of pain under my breast where the mesh was put. It hurts to touch and just feels like they are bruised really bad and it hurts like crazy to cough. Please someone help if you have any idea or knowledge on this subject.

I am not sure why the mesh was inserted in 2005, or how this relates to the surgery you had for pectus excavatum when you were a youngster. There are sometimes problems with mesh insertion; for example, sometimes they can shift, and for some reason there may be some inflammation in the area of the mesh. The location of the mesh and how it is seated can be determine by various imaging studies. I would suggest that you consult with the doctor who put the mesh in or a comparable surgical expert to assess the reason for your distress, keeping in mind please that I am unable to make medical diagnoses online.
