hello! i'm 18 & as of now 7 weeks pregnant (after taking 2 positive take-home-preg tests & confirming with my doctor). i plan on scheduling a surgical abortion around next week. i'm not worried about having an abortion, or the actual procedure itself nor am i feeling any stresses happening during my pregnancy. i'm completely fine & i just want to get everything & done with.

but on a not-so-lighter note, i am concerned about what's going to happen to me after the procedure. see, i work 7days a week, 12hours a day. i have no day-offs (only on major holidays, and even if i'm sick, i still can't have one), and i work with my dad. he doesn't know about the pregnancy&abortion nor do i ever want him to know. however, twice a week i go to college for about 5 early in the day and come back to work after. during one of those two (school) days i plan to take my surgical, rest with however much little hours i have left, and head back to work.

i work in the jewelry business, by the way. i don't do any strenuous physical work; just sit (mostly) and stand and talk to customers all day. i'm just wondering if that'll effect my condition in any way?

all comments & suggestions are greatly appreciated. thank you all for your time! Smile

I had a surgical abortion, and chose not to have any sedation. I drove myself there and back, and even went out for breakfast on the way home. I had very light bleeding and barely any cramping. To me, the after-effects of the abortion were easier to deal with then my regular monthly periods. If you are planning on having sedation, then you probably won't be able to work afterward. Also, when I made my appointment, they told me the entire process could take anywhere from 5-7 hours!! I was very lucky, and with the first appointment in the morning (7am) I was out of there in about 4 hours.

If you can get the abortion done in time, and as long as you are not doing anything strenuous to your body (you mentioned mostly sitting around), I think you will be ok to work. I spent the majority of my day folding laundry, watching TV, and making dinner. I even drove my boyfriend to work that night. I felt no different then I did on a normal day. There may be someone better qualified to give you advice then me though.

I hope everything works out for you. Good Luck Smile

Hi,

I thought I would add my experience as well.

I had a surgical abortion at 7 weeks, and I had IV sedation. At the private clinic I went to, they required a driver to take you to the clinic, wait in the waiting room, and take you home. Technically, you shouldn't drive after you've had sedation, but if you get a ride to work maybe, you should be fine to work.

After the procedure, I felt just fine. I only bled very slightly for 2 hours afterward, and any cramping I had went away as soon as I was able to stand after the procedure. I didn't feel drowsy or nauseated afterward. Like lucy315 said above, I actually went to get food with my ride (boyfriend) right afterward.

Please remember that every woman is different, but the experiences I read online were nothing like I experienced, I had no complications. I'd also like to add that Lucy315 is correct that it can take quite awhile for the entire process to be done (the procedure itself takes about 3-5 minutes but the waiting and paperwork and recovery take a little longer), but in my case I was in and out of the clinic in 2 hrs and 20 minutes (my poor boyfriend was keeping the time, he was so worried).

Good luck, and I hope everything goes well for you.

The only problem is that you never know how long it would take till your abortion turn. The day I went to the clinic it was that busy that I had my appointment at 11.00am and I was not done till 6.00 pm!

The ABORTION PILL ADVICE
ONLY take this pill if you are VERY VERY early, not a day over 6 weeks, and you have had a child before and have carried it full term and had a natural/vagina birth.
Do not choose this option if you are very young, your pregnancy is a day over 6 weeks and have not had a child!
This pill is NOT the easy way out you could be on your bathroom floor in pain for days,
I hope this information helps you in your time of need.
