Q: surgical abortion follow up ?

Three years ago, on December 23rd 2005 I had a surgical abortion for a pregnancy that was terminated at 8.5 weeks. At the time I was 19 years old and did not know much about what was going on, or about what to do afterwards. I more or less blocked that event out of my memory, and just wanted to move past it.

Well, the thing is I did not go to the follow up appointment that I am reading online as being very important after an abortion. I know its been forever since it happened, but lately I started remembering it and have been wondering about what type of damage I may have done to my body.

My question is, does anyone share this experience? (a surgical abortion void of the post-op follow up) Or does anyone know what are the possible ramifications of not going to this appointment?

For anyone that is wondering, I did not experience any pain what so ever... other than the slight leg cramping which I was told to expect. I also took all of the prescribed meds entirely (for the antibiotics) and did not have any cramping, fever, nausea or anything of the sort.

Any insight on this would be very appreciated...thank you.

The post abortion appointment is in order to have an ultrasound to verufy that your pregnancy was over and anything was left. I guess in three years you did an ultrasound at your doctor or gynecologist soif they didnt find anything strange I guess everything must be ok.
