Q: Surgery Damaged Uvula

My husband recently had gallbladder surgery and his Uvula is elongated by about 1 1/2 inches. He cannot sleep on his back as it hangs down his throat choking him. He cannot speak with out gagging to the point of vomitting. The doctor said it would be ok within 48 hours. It has been that and he still has problems. I am afraid the anaesthestist(sp) has severely damaged it to the point of no repair or healing (back to normal) What can he do?/

Damaged Uvula from surgical procedure
Honeypie 31-
I just had a hysterectomy three days ago and am having the same problem. What has happened in your husband's case? Did it resolve itself or did he have to have it repaired? Is this is form of malpractice? It is VERY VERY bothersome though people seem to find it funny. Sometimes I panic like I am going to choke on it.
