This is my 3rd month on the Nuva Ring. The first month was normal, last month was extremely short but the flow was normal. I took the ring out on Monday 5/11, it's Friday 5/15 and still no period. I did not have any unprotected sex since my last period. Pregnancy test comes up negative. Can you please tell me what this could be??

Your description of an absence of a period after the removal of your Nuva Ring is called suppression of menstruation. The combination of the two hormones in the Nuva Ring (estrogen and progestin) sometimes thins out the lining in the uterus (also known as endometrial atrophy) and there is no withdrawal bleeding or menstrual period. Research shows that 0.3 to 3.8 percent of women have this experience when using the Nuva Ring.

If you desire a menstrual period you might want to speak with your healthcare provider about changing your contraceptive method.
