Q: support after cervical cancer diagnosis

Hello,

I'm wondering where people turned to for support after a cervical cancer diagnosis. I am not close to my Mom or my sisters, and my best friend is currently struggling with cancer herself.

I don't even know if I have anyone to go with me my procedures. Previously, when I had dysplasia, I went to everything myself and didn't even tell anyone until after the procedures were done.

I am engaged, but he just keeps saying everything will be fine, which it probably will, but I'm still scared out of my wits. And there's no way I'm going to tell my kids right now. At 14 and 7, they don't need that kind of stress.

Any suggestions of where to turn for support?

Thanks, Michelle Sad

I understand that you are, actually, talking about having someone next to you during the doctor's visits and someone to hold your hand before and after the surgery (don't miss the chance to have your fiance next to you; going through tough moments together can strengthen your love).

What stage is the cancer?

Well wishes!

support after cervican cancer diagnosis
Thank you for your reply!

I may actually going for additional testing, including a biopsy and some ultrasounds, to determine the stage and progression. Right now, I think all the uncertainty is what's bothering me. I'm a writer, so my imagination can be a powerful enemy!

I agree, I need to let mike, my fiance, come with. He's trying, but he's also struggling with his mother's impending surgery. I've always been independent, but I guess I'm realizing that I need to reach out to those who I am close to. I agree that this site will also provide me with much needed emotional support.

You are welcome!
Was this found on routine test or you've started experiencing some symptoms (spotting or heavier bleeding between periods, bleeding after intercourse, or unusually heavy periods, a foul-smelling discharge from the vagina, pain in the pelvic area or lower back)?
Please, inform us about the final results!

Waiting for your post!
