Has anyone ever experienced this? Or know of someone who has. Sadly this usually results in death. There are some cases where the person survives.

My hubby was one of them. He huffed butane 3 yrs ago he was 18 at the time. He went into seizures and his heart stopped, he was gone for at least 4 minutes. They shocked him 5 times. He was in ICU and on a ventialtor for 10 days. When he woke up he was like a child. He would ask funny questions a normal 5 year old would. We didnt know if this would last...it didnt seem to because within 2-3 months Daniel seemed normal.

I didnt think he had so many problems from this. His memory never was the same but it wasnt a big concern to me. I just moved on with our life. Well now its 3 yearslater and he is losing his touch on reality. I think its from brain damage he may have experienced.

He says he has always had to learn things over again when he wakes up. Like he will forget what he has to do to get rid of the waste in the toilet or remember what the remote is supposed to do. I feel so bad cause he never never once expressed this to me. He has been alone all these years probably feeling bad about himself.

Is there anyone out there that can relate?

This is the first that I have heard of this.

Is there nothing that a neurologist or therapist could do to help him retain what he relearns?
