I have multiple food allergies. I have a life-threatening Brazil nut allergy, and I am also severely allergic to Walnuts, Hazelnuts and Penicillin. I also can't eat several fruits if they are fresh and grow on trees (I'm fine if they are dried, cooked or tinned).
I had a reaction to something earlier (it wasn't a dangerous reaction, but it caused half of my face to swell up and to be quite painful, and I developed a rash on my elbows), but the thing is I have no idea what might have caused it which I find quite frightening.
So I'm now sitting in my front room, looking like I've taken a nasty punch to the face and trying to work out what the hell set me off this time.
I got an OXO cube out of my housemate's cupboard earlier. I ground up the OXO cube with my fingers, but I'm not allergic to OXO, I read the ingredients and I've had them before. However apparently my housemate kept dried fruit and possibly nuts in there berfore she used it for gravy, but that would have been over a year ago!
She didnt say anything because she had forgotten about it and also didnt know I was so badly allergic.
I really can't think of anything else that could possibly explain it, but is it possible that the dust could still have set me off even though the last time she put nuts in there was about ten months back?
