J.I. Brox et. al in a 2003 Spine 28 article pp 1913-21 entitled "Randomized Clinical trial of Lumbar Instrumented Fusion and Cognitive Intervention and Exercise in Patients with Chronic Low Back Pain and Disc Degeneration"
Followed 64 patients for a year. They were randomly assigned to get either spinal fusion surgery or treatment that consisted of cognitive intervention and a three week exercise program.

The authors concluded:
"The main outcome measure showed equal improvement" in both groups.

When will people suffering in pain speak up and demand better treatment and care?
How long will people accept ineffective treatments and not question the medical industry at large?

Extremely eHealthy
How about a link so that we can read this study ourselves. Without being able to read it and see what it says, we can not verify that you have reported accurate information or that you understood what you read.

Hi Fran,
"Advertising is not allowed on E health Forum".

So I am not allowed to post any links. You can find the article if you can get a copy of Spine.
What I wrote is an M.D.'s comments, they are not my own (except for the last 2 sentences).
