Q: Struggle with constipation

I have not changed my diet in YEARS, to begin with, but only in the last year have I been experiencing constipation. I thought maybe I need to increase my water intake - ok well that didn't do too much but during the week of my period, I was drinking 2 bottles a day and was going to the bathroom regularly. Now I have stopped bleeding for the past 2 days and have not had a bowel movment. Does anyone know why this happens and if I have a hormonal imbalance I need to see the DR for?

Extremely eHealthy
It's usual to have more regular (increased calls to the bathroom) bowel movements during menstrual bleeding.
Increased water intake is very beneficial for regulating the bowel movements, too.
Try to drink plenty of water and eat food rich in fiber.
Constipation can be a part of Irritable bowel syndrome, if it is accompanied with abdominal cramping and bloating.
Hormonal imbalance, such as decreased levels of thyroid gland hormones, causes constipation as a symptom, since this condition causes whole metabolism to slow down.
Using some medications, like antidepressants and others, can lead to constipation as a side effect.

Best wishes!
