Q: Strong odor in urine

For several weeks I have had a very strong odor to my urine. I drink plenty of water and other fluids, I have no pain, frequency, burning on urination or cloudiness.
Although I am a nurse and work in a nursing home, I have never seen a UTI with just this symptom.
I am not taking any medications at this time but for a time I was on different pain medications for back and shoulder problems and it's been awhile since i've even taken those.
I'm wondering if this has affected my kidneys and/or liver.

It's probably safest to have a test done to be sure, that way if it is an infection you'll be able to catch it before it becomes full blown

odor?
Just curious, what kind of odor? I'm asking because my urine smells very strongly like whatever I eat. And the doctors can't find anything. They state "its just the way I am" yet the odor goes away when I take antibiotics (one dr thought it was an infection). it does not change no matter how much I drink, so I'm not dehydrated. And it is strong enough that I know something is not right.

It was ecoli
I solved the problem. it was an ecoli infection that did not react to normal antibiotics...had to take something different. definately go get tested. no smell now for weeks.

strong smelling urine
I also have noticed a strong smell to my urine. I have been getting water from a spring because I don't like the taste of my water. I've been drinking this for a few years. I've only recently noticed my urine smelling strong for about 2 months or so.
Could it be from drinking the water?

strong smelling urine
I have noticed a strong smell to my urine, especiallly the first time I go in the morning. I have been getting water from a spring because I don't like the taste of my water. I was wondering if I need to drink tap water because of the chemicals it has in it. I am a little concerned about this. I don't have any pain, but the smell is not at all pleasant.
Can anybody give me a suggestion?
