Im 36 weeks pregnant, Ive been having strong menstrual like cramping and back pain w/ strong pressure. I try drinking water and laying on my left side but I am not getting any relief from any position or even walking. Could this be early labor or just BH?

Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum,
Consider observing your abdomen. Place your hands on your abdomen (top and on sides) during the bout of cramps and see if there is uterine contraction associated. If uterine activity is present, it might suggest onset of labor. Sometimes few women can experience ‘Braxton Hick’s’ type of contractions before actual onset of labor. Visit your gynecologist/midwife for a thorough evaluation to differentiate the two. Look out for other signs like passing of ‘show’ (cervical mucus plug), rupture of the water bag, increase in intensity of cramps and low back pain etc.
Take care.
