I wrote Ask a Doctor about this problem and while I am waiting for an answer this happened to me. I have been having severe headaches on the right side of the back of my head. The other day as I was getting ready for my doctor's appointment I felt dizzy and my left side was going numb. My friend who was taking me gave me an aspirin and helped me finished getting ready. As we entered the doctor's office she told the nurse I was not feeling good and I needed help and they got a wheel chair. After that my legs gave out and I lost control of my body. To make a long story short my friend (retired nurse) said I had a TIA. I remember the doctor asking me questions but i couldnt answer, asking me if i could feel this and that which I couldnt feel. They then had an ambulance transport me to the emergency room. In the meantime I started to come out of the stroke. I thought it had only been about 15 minutes but found out it was more like 35 minutes. They asked me what medicines I had taken and I told them I took and oxycontin 40 mg. and a Norco 10mg at 4am. The cat scan came out good, the chest scan came out good, and the EKG came out with some irregulatories but then normal. my sugar was 230, and no urine and blood results yet. So the emergency room doctor came in again after he had finished doing about 5 minutes of testing my eyes, and told me i could go home. Then I overheard him talking to my family doctor on the phone that i had probably taken a few extra pain pills. Then the nurse brought my papers in and on them it said "ACCIDENTAL OVERDOSE". I was so upset I asked for my doctor and wanted him to explain it to me. He was so obnoxious, and said 'I think you may have taken the medicine wrong'. Then when I told him I take my medicine the correct way, he got up and said WHATEVER and walked out of the room. What I would like to know 'is this possible'? I take this medicine every day for the past 4 years like clock work. I take no more no less. I am going to call my doctor first thing Monday morning for another appointment. I want to know why I am having these horrible headaches and for an explanation.
thanks for your advance advice,
