A stroke almost always causes âsome brain damage. How much damage depends on the type, location, duration, and severity of the âstroke. And the extent and location of damage is what largely determines the stroke prognosis - the âchance for survival or quality of life down the road.
Based on the details given, it seems that your husband has involvement of a single side of the brain, due to the stroke. In such moderate cases of stroke, most patients usually recover most of the functions within 1-2 years after the event.
There is no exact formula to predict the outcome in every case, nor is there a set timeline for ârecovery. But there's reason for hope: Although up to 30 percent of stroke survivors suffer some âpermanent disability, more than half recover functional independence after a stroke.â
When considering stroke prognosis, in general, people who have ischemic strokes (caused by a blood âclot) have a better chance of surviving than those who have hemorrhagic strokes(caused by a âruptured blood vessel). That's because hemorrhagic strokes have the potential to cause more damage âto the brain. When a blood vessel ruptures inside the brain, the bleeding not only destroys brain cells âbut it can result in other serious complications, including increased pressure on the brain and spasms âof other blood vessels.â
Since complete details and information has not been provided, it is not possible to give exact details âabout the prognosis of your husband. You will need to continue to work with his treating doctors, and âhopefully things will turn around and improvement might be seen. â
I recently suffered a stroke and I'm experiencing some very unusual feelings.
I often get What feels like prickles in my left arm, hand and face...quite painful.
Right arm feels like it's a painful dead weight and mobility is severely restricted.
When my arm feels like I have mentioned above my eye sight goes bad as well... also get dizzy.
My stomach churns, Can feel what I can only describe as rods/bars in my stomach, groin, left leg, right arm and hand... and stops at my knee cap, occasionally this moves up my body... sometimes as far as my face.
My voice goes higher than usual when I'm feeling dizzy.
Once had pins and needles in my face for 22 hours.
Peripheral vision is very blurred. Also, the best way I can describe another symptom is that my eyes go " slitty "
My right foot sometimes feels like it's at an angle and becomes very painful to walk.
I have been to the Doctor several times and they just have no answers for me, all the say is that I shouldn't be feeling like that.
Any help or advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated.
