Q: Stress and nausea ?

Hi, I'm eighteen years old and just finished my first semester of college. I worked a lot this summer in a very high-stress environment, and my school is also very demanding. I've been in almost perfect health until last summer when I fainted after slamming my finger in a cash register, and vomiting the next day (it had been about eight years since I last got sick). Since then I've had several cases of nausea, especially after I moved to my new school, which is in a place approx. 7000 ft in elevation (I lived in sea level all my life.) I was always tired and nauseous my first week of school but I assumed that was caused by altitude sickness. I was fine for a while, but in November or so I had my first recent episode of extreme nausea and took some marijuana to settle my stomach. The next week I had on-and-off episodes of nausea and panic attacks, caused by a pregnancy scare. After recovering, I was fine for a while but soon after I had another couple of days when the nausea hit again, and again I took marijuana. The third chunk of episodes was during my period in mid-December, and while I had never experienced severe menstration effects, I was so tired and 'out of it' that I skipped two days of class. I recovered after a while, and several days after I came home, I had another hit of nausea, which happened again a few days later. Now I am menstrating again and still have the same symptomes: nausea, chills, fatigue, shivering. Due to my family's financial situation I haven't been to the doctor in more than eight years. I also have an irrational fear of vomiting, and try to prevent it as much as I can, relying on remedies (such as marijuana). I am not a regular smoker. During these episodes, I feel almost as if I am high, feeling very light-headed and disoriented.

I was told that this might be caused by stress, and definately not aided by my paranoia, but I'm not quite convinced. Has anyone experineced anything similar? Does anyone know what it is or what it was caused by, and what I can do to cure this? Thanks.

hi first of all hun smoking marijuana will never help you when you feel stressed or tense you may think it does at the time but studies actually show it just makes it worse in the end, i think some of it might be due to the smoking you may feel like your nauseous when your not but because you are used to feeling sick at the moment you are thinking about it a lot which can make you feel it! i think you should stop the marijuana and try and get to a doctor about your other problems good luck Jenny

Stress and marijuana is not always a good combination!
I'll be first to admit I loved using it for the pleasure, but I have been through a very emotionally stressing year; death of my father, change of job after 16 yrs, car accident and catching my spouse cheating (all this in about an 8 months period), so I turned to marijuana to "numb" the pain, then the panic attacks started (try doing a little research on marijuana /anxiety on the web)

I quit cold turkey four months ago and let me tell you these have been the worst month of my life....anxiety mixed with constant nausea and IBS, back aches, it's as if my body has gone into "failure mode"!

I am slowly regaining my life back and that is mostly due to self-awareness (books, web, etc.) about stress/anxiety and relaxing techniques (Yoga, relaxation & breathing).
But still now, just a minor stress will bring on the nausea and back pains, and digestive problems.

Donâ??t take a chance, go see a doctor, I did and everything came back normal, that is one less stress to deal with!

Learn to relax, to de-stress, and stay away from marijuana it will only make it worst once the buzz goes away (unless you are just using it to have a good time). Go for a jog, itâ??s pretty amazing what that will do!!!

If you are going to medicate with marijuana, do not smoke it. You need to make a butter tea with it and drink half a cup a day. That should help with the stress and nausea. I am a medical user, this is the methode i found the best for using medical marijuana. It does not get you overly high, its just a very mild body buzz, and it lasts longer. Marijuana is much more effective when ingested.

If you can't stand the taste of the tea, you can make budder. It is butter infused with cannabis leaves. You make the budder, and then cook it into one meal a day, or make brownies. Eat half a brownie a day, or when you start feeling ill. If you dont want to get stoned, dont take more than one a day. I break mine up into quarters and take them like I would tylonol. Though I don't usually use this methode because it is a bit more time consuming.

Unfortunatly it is abused as a crutch sometimes. Do not over do it. I personally am also a recreational user. But it really isnt for everyone, and if you are using it for its medical benifits you should never be more than lightly buzzed.
