Q: Stress and erectile dysfunction
asked by: DoctorQuestion on February 8th, 2009
I am 20 yrs old, I have a 25 yr old girlfriend (I am attracted to older women always have been). Anyway we have been going out for 5 months now and sex is amazing but about a month ago she lied to me about an ex boyfriend and we had a big thing about it on more than one occasions. It has been somewhat a problem for me the fact she lied and she is still close to him. So about a week ago or two weeks (cant remember exactly) whenever we tried to have sex/make love it is hard for me to achieve an erection and if i do get one its hard for me to keep it, as soon as a condom goes on, i get flaccid. I wake up erected in the mornings but not as i used to be, I have to do some extensive stimulation for masturbation now, I am really worried and would love to know what is causing this problem and how to resolve it. I have recently lost my job also but not so much worried about that. We love each other and I really want to get rid of this obstacle. PLease any advice?

Stress can affect an erection. You might want to visit a sex therapist or a psychotherapist. Relaxation techniques before intercourse might be recommended. Longer foreplay might also be a good idea.

Before that, you might want to visit a urologist to rule out any other somatic disorders.
