I am a 31 year old man who has had physical strength problems most of my life(such as lifting heavy objects like a man my age should be able to -like 30 40 pounds is too much for me) I am tired of being thought of as less of a man and almost losing a relationship with my daughters mother beacause im not a "real man" I am otherwise healthy except having 3 seizures in my life that are now controlled by meds (dilantin)otherwise nothing else medically Im wondering if i might have a undiagnosed disorder if one exists because i walk alot am in otherwise fit shape i do not have any health care coverage now because of prohibitive costs i am wondering it is so embarrassing.

justin612sfinest,

It is possible that you could have one of the over 100 different types of muscular dystrophy. Becker's MD is less severe that Duchanne's MD, and most of the affected live into old age. The only way to really tell, would be to have a muscle biopsy.

If you have seriously tried strengthening programs before, without any success, then you may want to see a genetic specialist or a specialist is neuromuscular diseases.

Good luck.
