Strange sensation while trying to sleep

I keep on experiencing this weird feeling a lot of the time when I lay down to go to sleep. After laying down for a bit my body will be hit with a shock of a sort of numbness starting from one side of the body (I believe from the legs up I don't remember). It feels to me like the numbness is the exact second I fall asleep but I wake up immediately after but I don't know if this is the case. One time instead of just opening my eyes and waking myself up after it I kept my eyes closed and tried to remain calm. After a couple jolts of numbness my vision started to get blacker then it already was (even though my eyes were closed) and I felt a sensation of my body tilting left and right even though I was stationary. Nobody I know has experienced this. I told a friend once and he told me it was my body releasing DMT but I'm not quite sure.

Re:
I often do this as well. Sometimes my episodes are also accompanied with a very panicky feeling (this just be my reaction to the odd event happening). From what I have been told it is a mild sleep disorder (I have others), but I know how freighting this feeling can be. it is a relative of narcolepsy...no not all narcolepsy causes you to do the sitcom style knock out sleep. I WOULD SUGGEST YOU GET A SLEEP STUDY DONE. After all, it may be something more than a sleep disorder. It could even be blood sugar related. It never hurts to journal the occurances of these episodes and talk to your doctor. Hope this helps. Smile
