In the last couple of months I have noticed something very odd about my vision.
When I am looking straight ahead, my eyes converge perfectly and everything is in alignment. When I look to the left, even as far to the left as my eyes will turn, everything still aligns perfectly.
When I look to the right more than ten degrees or so, I have to start working pretty hard to keep the images aligned and not have double vision. This gets worse the farther to the right I gaze. With my eyes turned fully right, I have complete double vision and cannot bring the images together no matter how hard I try. The image from my left eye seems tilted to the right. I can align it horizontally with what the right eye sees, but it's rotated and won't line up.
I have read lots of descriptions of eye disorders, and the one that seems to fit most closely is strabismus, but none of the descriptions I've read say anything about that changing as the eyes gaze in different directions.
I'm not sure what this is, why I suddenly have it, or what if anything can be done about it, but it is worrying me a bit. I haven't been to a doctor yet because I was recently laid off and have no health insurance at the moment.
Thanks for any advice.
