hi there, so my boyfriend got arrested 3 weeks ago for having 60 grams of pot. I never really cared that he did it but after he got caught i'm now thinking, wow maybe this is a problem. He was smoking it everyday with his frineds for a while. Its like something they all do together. He's convinced hes going to get out of it and not be charged. He told me after he was caught that he was quitting but now he's doing it again and i don't like it. He says he wont be stupid and not have it on him anymore but i want him to quit entirely. I'm realizing now how much it affected his life, it makes him lazy, unmotivated and moody...it just took up alot of his life. How can I convince him to stop doing it, I told him i dont like it but he said if he wants to do it he's going to...Ive been in a relationship with him for 3 years and want to marry him some day, but i do not want to date a pothead anymore...What can i do?

At the end of the day you have to decide. Do you love him enough to stay or is he not the type of person you want to be with any longer..
Secondly, you can't really make him stop. You can try and threaten leaving and things like that but you have to understand that it's apersons choice to smoke, to drink ect.. yes they are addictions but the person has be willing to break that addiction and with will power and determination it can be done but without the want or the need the addiction stays.
Sorry to be a downer on the topic.
I can relate btw. my boyfriend smokes too & I am entirely against it because I know what sort of person he could be without it.
