After years of dependence, due to two herniated discs, on hydrocodone, oxycontin, then percocet, my internist intervened and put me on methadone while weaning off the oxycontin and hydrocodone. The methadone is an effective medication to control pain and is a miraculous medication to help you physically get through easing off the opioids. The leg pain, cramps, shakiness, crawling out of your skin is all handled if your physician prescribes the methadone effectively. Additionally, soma for muscle spasms and pain; xanax for anxiety; I changed anti-depressants from Wellbutrin to Effexor(the Effexor also assists with the anxiety); and begain Lyrica for pain which might be fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue, which both of my older sisters have dealt with.
And the main thing, prayer! Know that you're not alone and get into a support group or therapy (many therapists offer a sliding scale if you don't have insurance)
God be with you and you have my prayers! You can do it!
