I had last period which started on
February 23rd and went until the 29th. I
started BCP (Alesse) on the 29th and took
them until March 8th. I then stopped mid
pack. After that I bled for several days.
A week later I had unprotected sex.
It's now April and I still haven't had a
period. Should I be concerned?
A sudden cessation in the consumption of
birth control pills can cause vaginal
bleeding similar to menstruation. If such
bleeding occurs, your whole cycle is
disturbed and it would be difficult to
predict your next period and ovulation.
For now, you should use additional
contraception (condom).
You should perform a pregnancy test if you
don't get another period by the middle of
April.

I've heard that you can test 19 days after
unprotected sex. Is there any point to
doing this? Will the test be accurate?

STOPPING BC pills in the middle of the
pack is NOT A GOOD IDEA.
You need the WHOLE pack in order to
prevent pregnancy.
AFTER you stop pills, you can ovulate the
NEXT day, or the next week.
YOU MESSED UP, you are a risk for
pregnancy, take a test NOW.

I took one this morning and it was
negative. It's been about 19 days since I
last had sex.
Could it be a false negative from testing
too early? Still no period..

19 days after last having sex, the test
should be pretty accurate. However, just
to be safe, wait a few days and test
again.

14 days after sex is minimum, and 19 days
should be very accurate.
Remember, you must take a pill every day
in order to be protected everyday.
Why would you suddenly stop the pill THEN
have sex, if you really want to prevent
pregnancy?
IF you are having side effects, you can
try a new pill, or even try non hormonal
methods, but you NEED to remember to
protect yourself.
The blood pregnancy test becomes positive
about 10 days after conception. The home
pregnancy test (urine) needs a few more
days.
According to your negative pregnancy test
(made 19 days after the sex) you are
probably not pregnant.
This new cycle may last longer than the
previous one, so you may expect a period
delay. To be certain, you could also do
another test in the middle of April.
