Hi, my period has been off for awhile (coming at the beginning of the 3rd active pills..) and this has been bugging me.

So, to reset it I stopped taking the pills when the period came, waited for it to be a week (and the period is pretty much done.) And i just started a new pack today. How am I now as far as being protected goes? Am I ok now, or should I wait another week to have sex with b.c. as the only backup?

Thanks a bunch guys, im sure you get tons of these questions!!
Wish I could just call the Doctor, but he never even attemps to answer, he always just says USE BACKUP FOR A MONTH no matter what i'm asking... to cover himself..

It is my understanding you have to give it 7 days of correct use to be effective.

However, I thought you were supposed to start pill packs on the 1st day of your period or the Sunday after? And I am not sure how stopping/starting your pills at random has an effect.

If you decided this on your own, without the opinion or instruction of a doctor...if it were me, to be super safe I would unfortunatley give it a month because they say you are not protected your first month.

If you were off your pills for a full 7 days there is a good chance your would ovulate. I know hearing "back up for a month" is not fun, but the alternative is pregnancy for 9, right? : ) All jokes aside, I really would give it a month. Sorry!
