I work in a mental health hospital on the depression ward, and so many people go home every week after years of suffereing from depression - alone. There are other ways to help depression, besides medication, such as exercise, cognitive behaviour therapy, socialising or finding an interest, tidying up clutter and throwing away everything that reminds you of the past so you are able to have blank sheet to start again with no visual reminders.
