Actually, anti-diarrhea medicine is not precribed for cases of diarrhea. Diarrhea is a way of cleaning toxins and bacteria from the body. IF you take an anti-diarrheal, you're actually blocking this cleaning process. I lived in Africa for a couple of years, and encountered dysentry and other bacterial stomachn and digestive infections (parasites, ghardia, etc.) and NOT ONCE did doctors prescribe Immodium AD or something similar.
The only way to get a true diagnosis is to request a stool sample. This way, there is no guesswork, and your bowel movement get examined under the microscope for the presence of troubling guests.
